Welcome to Zelda64.net. Announcements can be found below!
As of 3.1.2017, this site seems pretty dead. Or on the brink of dying. So I've decided to try to help it out. Z64 is having its theme reworked to be more modern and professional. I'll try my best to get back into the Zelda modding scene. Hopefully we can get this place back up without the cobwebs (and without looking like a web page from the 1990s). Enjoy the current Zelda64 Dark theme over the next few days while I finish sorting out the rest of it and the Light theme. Thanks for sticking with us. Sylux102 out.
Welcome to Zelda64. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Hey guys! I was just wondering... I never actually saw a hack of SSB64. Maybe it's impossible because of the data being compressed. (Idk if it is)
Or maybe it's just that nobody has tried it yet. I saw people doing it but with gameshark codes only... Also, I never saw a true model import in this game...
Anyways, if someone wants to work with me, (Hello xDaniel :P) I wanted to start with changing a character's model and maybe, maybe if it goes far, I wanted an interface for it. (Hello xDaniel :P).

So, anyways, thx for helping!

Idk what compression has to do with anything. You can decompress any ROM using GZRT. And GZRT also allows you to RIP files from ROMs (even if they don't have a file table.), and you can even re-import them (over the same file that you ripped), so long as its ABSOLUTELY NO BIGGER THAN THE ORIGINAL FILE.

Well, since SSBB hacking is very flexible and quite noob-friendly with most of the tools, there's not much interest for SSB64 modding. I guess that's pretty logical, though.

Ok, well I don't mind to be the first to hack SSB64. :P
But the problem is that is my child's dream. So... :)

I can tell you now, that mod will NOT even make it to release.

$10,768 for a (somewhat crappy) mod of SB64.
Looking at the comments, apparently the "new" characters are literally just palette swaps. I understand that it is technically a "new" character, but it's still just a skin.

Uhh...
You'd probably have an easier time hacking Brawl to look like SSB64 and working from there. If I recall correctly at one point Project M had an N64 mode, so that may be a good place to start.

Edit:
Although this is unreleased, this is real gameplay and shows how close you can get it with minimal effort:

If you were dedicated, you could get the Menu UI and Physics spot-on as well.
