Hello there welcome to the site you really enjoy zelda mods huh? If you need any help on how to patch a ROM hack or anything I'm here because it's against the rules to just upload a ROM hack you have to put it in a PPF file that is a patch file for n64 ROMs I just released some ROM hack demo myself for Zelda ocarina time heroes quest you might want to try out I don't know they told me they tried it out yet or not but I did and it's awesome what it is it's a new quest mode for zelda ocarina of time it's hard nobody told me rather not they enjoy date yet it's only first dungeon but now I'm going to the harder stuff which I'm slowly learning I heard you want to make custom maps I vice you to use the textures from the game and not custom textures because too to many hipolys if you get what I mean what that means is that a certain point those high Pollys will make your ROM go over 64 MB have it does it's all over you cannot run it on a emulator so just to let you know I vice you use the game textures if you don't know how to extract them through the emulator I'll give you a link to the textures provided by Gannondork ok good luck man I'm slowly learning it will take you a while to slowly learning rom hacking it is fine so enjoy ;)

Yeah you can use any textures you want but the textures in the ocarina of time and majoras mask textures don't have so many Hipollys so it will most likely not go over 64 MB on the rom as of how you could get there you have to extract the textures on a emulator if you don't know how to do that I'll upload some on my media fire Will most likely YouTube will help you for as up for sketch up Pro you could look up like how to make maps on sketch up Pro and then it's just a simple As that just got a learn sketch up Pro tutorials On YouTube good luck ;) Edited by zelda5655, Jan 11 2015, 08:12 PM.

Legendary Zeldaboy who does custom swords and stuff

Welcome to the Zelda 64 forums. My best advise is start small, and learn as much as possible before even attempting a mod. Many mods fail due to lack of time, or lack of knowledge with Hex editing. |

well what would hex editing do to the game? like what things in the game would you use hex editing for? The main thing i want to learn is map making but im really bad in skecthup. any advice? im just really bad at the collision model. the only thing i really even KNOW how to do in skecthup is making squares. I dont really get how to make these super cool complex models that others are making. and there are virtualy NO tutorials to help me in skecthup! my only REAL knowledge of skecthup is that the face must be white and that you have to add textures. and lets face it i have no IDEA on how to make custom textures for skecthup. Aeroblast43o9 told me to use photoshop and stuff but i dont even have photoshop. are there any good tutorials anywhere for using skecthup? and how would you add efects into the game? such as an icy wind in an ice temple. or somthin like that?

You'd need 0to know Hex editing to insert custom display lists, or to port display list from MM. You'd also need it to change certain stuff you want Kid or Adult link to use. I advise you read up quite a bit on it. |
