Allow me to introduce myself, my name's Davin. And I am a ROM researcher and also likes to experiment with things in ROMs. It all contributes to researching new ways of developing in ROM hacking. As I have been researching and experimenting with Pokémon Black/White/Black 2/White 2 versions. I was amazed by how the Izou Zelda project had become into a ROM hack called The Legend of Zelda: Sacred Armor. But of course, I read somewhere here on the forum that it's no longer being developed as a ROM anymore, but inserted into some custom engine that will be used for playing as a Windows executable. I do indeed have so many ideas for the project, and there is definitely a part of me that wants to see it as a N64 ROM, as it used to be. But also, there's a part of me that's hoping to see the project in completion, no matter where it's designed for. The possibilities are just infinite, there's ASM code inside Majora's Mask in which can be ported into a ROM hack in which can force the game to use 16 MB instead of 8 MB (in which would request for Expansion Pak if used on actual hardware), and detect if it has the capability to do so. Anyways, it's really nice to join Zelda 64. And just so you know, I'm a very open, kind and caring person. ^^ |

Hey, welcome! Yeah, Sacred Armor is no longer a ROM hack, it is on a custom engine, which is currently being written by CheerfulSage. |

Welcome to the community! It sounds like you are experienced with ROM hacking, I can't wait to see what you may contribute to the site in the future! As GANONdork123 stated, there are plenty of tutorials here to get you started, a good thing to start with (only if you are somewhat experienced with hacking ROMs though, otherwise I would suggest starting with something else) is display list porting. It gives you quite a good understanding on the format of .ZOBJ files (basically where most graphical data except maps are stored). Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask them! Also we have an IRC channel where you also might get some help if you're lucky. Again, welcome and enjoy your stay! |
