Need help with extracting textures from MM and import into OoT

Can somebody guide me in the right direction? I'm trying to rip the HUD icons from MM and port them into OoT (since the glossiness looks better imo), and I want the hylian shield to look like the hero shield from MM as well. Could somebody tell me the easiest way to do that? And no, I don't want a texture pack for pc emulators, I want these textures in the rom so I can play it on an everdrive. thanks in advance!

The tool you will need is here. You're going to want TextureExplorer. Although, we need to know if you want to mod the Debug ROM, or the v1.0 ROM (N64 USA Release Version).

I would prefer the NTSC v1.0 Rom if possible, if not I'll just use the disable debug functions patch on the debug rom.

The NTSC v1.0 ROM is possible, you just have to decompress the ROM first. Simple enough, you'll just have to find a program to do that with. I can't specifically think of any right off hand that I could link to aside from ZDEC, which I don't have a link for. Sorry. :\

Action icon texture is easy, copy 0x1EBDF60 through 0x1EBE35F (that's 0x400 bytes) from MM 1.0, to 0x1A3CA00 in the OOT USA 1.0 rom. I'd imagine the shield should be pretty easy to find with Texture Explorer, but I don't have that offset handy at the moment.

Looks weird without modifying the color values though in my opinion.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Here's a mirror for ndec since Wareya's site appears to be down:

Err, not sure what you mean exactly. I've just been using Texture Explorer for everything texture related I do and it gives the texture offset in the rom on the side. Only problems I've had have been with a few CI8 textures because I can't find the palette address, ozidual had to help me find a few by ram dump (and even then he manually altered them to adjust to the existing palette).

Maybe you're not using the right graphics plugin to dump textures?

Edit: You're using "ndec input.z64 output.z64 -clean" before you try and search the rom with Texture Explorer right?

I have no idea what that means.

Edit: The decompresser just disappears since my antivirus sees it as a virus and deletes it.

I don't think it's your virus software, nothing reports ndec as having anything malicious.

ndec is a Command Line tool that decompresses OoT and MM roms, you'll need to open a Command Prompt window and change to the folder with ndec.exe and your Zelda v1.0 rom in Big Endian format (.z64) then type that command substituting your rom name and what you want the new rom to be.

For example:

C:\Users\Aroenai\Downloads\ndec> ndec.exe Zelda64.z64 dec_Zelda64.z64 -clean

I don't have access to a lot of texture with Texture Explorer, I don't know why.
