Scroll of Time Issues
Topic Started: Aug 18 2016, 12:34 AM (573 Views)

I made another post about this, but i realized this was a more appropriate section to put this. anyway, some of you may have read i am currently working on a rom hack for zelda OOT, and i would like to edit text. im editing off of the US 1.0 release, and scroll of time doesnt seem to extract the files for it properly ( or really at all), compressed or decompressed. It works fine with the debug rom, but the debug rom has some issues with it that kinda have steered me away from using that rom as a base. is there a way i could edit the 1.0 US release of the game with scroll of time or maybe another program? doing it through hex is very slow and inefficient, and even requires some know-how im not sure i really have. if someone could help me with this, i would really appreciate it.

Thank you for your time,

BTW: email me (MarthurSR@gmail.com) if youd like to help me with the project; that being testing, designing, or giving suggestions. or even if you just want to know more about the hack :)

all text is decompressed and in a modified ascii format. just use a hex editor if no tools work. http://wiki.spinout182.com/w/Ocarina_of_Time:_Text_Format

Ocarina Text Editor can be used provided you manually extract the textbox reference data and text data from the rom, and patch it back in by hand. If you know how to code, it actually wouldn't be too hard to get the program to support 1.0
