I actually have designed some other shirts using a different service that allows more than just shirts to be purchased. Plus, this money would go into my account to pay for things like ad removal and such. Thanks for the contribution though.

The music player is an incredibly stupid idea, because if you spend more than 2 seconds thinking about it, you'd realize that it adds absolutely nothing of worth to the site.

Just here me out on this... do people really, genuinely want to come here to listen to some shitty playlist that anyone with a Youtube account can make on their own, or are they here to learn how to hack? Sure, maybe some people might enjoy it for about 5 minutes, but then it will just be sitting there, doing nothing, wasting everyone's bandwidth and probably looking just as unprofessional as that last banner you had up.

I had originally had one for all of two minutes before it became glaringly obvious it was a bad idea. I was only going to add it to solidify this point. So worry not, it was never a genuine consideration to add a music player.

I'll post a more elaborate reply later about my thoughts and whatnot, but for now I simply want to ask, what are your priorities with the new site UI?

If you're looking to overhaul the aesthetic of the site, that sounds really neat, and you may want to post a topic about it. It'd be cool to get some concept art and ideas rolling in.

But mainly, what are you most concerned with in the new website? If you make a new site, are you cool with focusing on design first? Or are you mostly concerned with keeping the site as little resource-heavy as possible?

I'm not talking about anything crazy flashy, but there are some neat things that could be done to make the site really comfortable and good-looking. Reference how tabs are handled on the Normal Boots site.
Furthermore, I haven't looked into it, but have you thought having the URL redirect mobile users to a mobile version of the site? I'm not sure what that entails or if ZetaBoards is capable of making that happen, but it would both make the site look more professional to mobile users, and would be something to heavily consider when thinking about creating a new website UI. Having two versions for users could negate a lot of issues with a design-focused UI.

I intend to make the UI look more clean and modern. Sticking with basically a single color palette and changing many of the button icons to match the same style. As soon as I am able to create some concept art and post it, I most certainly will.

I'm not making a new site, just redesigning this one. I will be focusing on visual design, but I do want it to perform well.

As far as mobile redirecting, this is something I've wanted to look into, but I don't know if Zetaboards supports this function. I could try some sort of interception method, but I don't know how well that may turn out. I actually pretty much exclusively use the site on a mobile device, so I will be able to test that.

Various Blizzard Forums are also good examples for website UI if you are interested:
https://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/

Have you thought about what the main color scheme you want to sport is?
As someone else has said, the ZSO theme looks very friendly, which I think partly lies in it's brighter colors.
Black can also look extremely professional and sleek, which may be how hackers would like to feel on the site (Lol. :P), so you may not want to throw that idea out the window.

Anyway, as far as my other thoughts go, there's not much to say.
I don't think the music player is a horrible idea, it just needs some tweaking to actually be practical/not annoying. I strictly believe that anything that can set the aesthetic of the site's main purpose, Zelda, has some merit. Even if it's only in the form of Direct Message jingles or whatever. You know.

Anyway, I think progress is definitely what would make the site be taken seriously.
A guru focused backroom set of forums shouldn't just be some "We're better so we get put here", but rather a place where goals could be coordinated and actively focused on. Essentially the level-headed gurus with experience and realistic expectations could all sit down, think of a feasible goal, and work to achieve it. The site could even have a meter of some sort showing the goals we've achieved, and what's next, since the primary thing that new members want to see is limits being broken.

As far as that goes as well, you may want to thing about giving certain mods the site's "official support". This could even be voted on in the backroom forum, but either way, I think 3Q probably has the most potential as a contender.
I don't want to immediately bring up bad memories or anything, I think the old URA project was a big thing that brought the "Gamer's Collective Network" traffic. Not to say that 3Q is similar in anyway, but the project garners attention, and treated better and given more support, it would have the potential to come out healthy and give the site and it's creators a name.

I'm throwing around ideas at this point but, a backroom could totally help make goals unison. And if 3Q were handled like this site's "official" main project or whatever, the site's backroom could actively create goals that could help push the project along, tear new boundaries for the community, and promote the site, all-in-one. Goals could include a number of things, like breaking limits on ground-up enemy creation, adding new bosses, working in new items, and anything of the like that hasn't received much exploring due to it's difficulty. If the site had goals at it's forefront that we worked together as a community on, we're guaranteed to make more progress than many of the sites currently out there.

Sorry for these long posts. XD

Nintendo's legal grounds for that are actually super shakey. They tried to claim copyright infringements with the Game Genie back in the NES days and prevented sales of that device for a year. They lost the court case, and had to pay Galoob (Game Genie maker) all the legal fees plus $15 million US dollars in lost sales. I don't see how mods would be any different, as the legal case ruled that owners of copyrighted works are allowed to modify that work for their own use. Sharing it though, is where it may be different.
Just remember, that as far as Copyrights go, in legal grounds, it could be avoided in such a way that it is done in parody, or in an educational format.

In other words, any modifications done in parody, or to criticize is considered "legal" under the Fair Use Section of the Copyright laws. :)

Good luck. As always, I'm willing to help where I can. I'll be updating my profile information including my email soon, and that'll probably be the best way for y'all to contact me. <3
